    So here’s the deal…
When I add new post or edit a post it looks like this:
    http://i.imgur.com/rrrly.jpg

Clicking on Visual or HTML does nothing, when I click Upload/Insert it pops up the media upload box at the bottom of the page and halfway hidden off the left side of the screen. All plugins are off and I’m completely lost. I didn’t actually do anything to make this happen that I know of. I logged in and it was just screwed. Any ideas?

On the posts page it’s also jumbling up the list view/expand view buttons. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m not. I was using the visual editor until last Wednesday. Then the visual editor stopped loading.

Have you checked your server’s error logs recently?

What should I be looking for?

    (@esmi)

No idea. In theory, you shouldn’t have any errors.

    haynerfide

    (@haynerfide)

Yeah, I’m not seeing anything. But I’ve never checked error logs before so I was concerned I was looking at the wrong thing.

It looks like a javascript issue of some kind but this isn’t one I’ve ever seen before. Did you change anything before this happened? Have your hosts?

    haynerfide

    (@haynerfide)

That’s the thing, I changed nothing. I just logged in one day and it was like that. That’s what had me so confused. Had I changed something I’d of had a jumping off point to look for an issue. My host is GoDaddy, but I don’t see anything about any kind of change…

In that case, the next step is going to be real fun… You need to have a word with GoDaddy to find if anything was changed on the server recently. If you can give them the server’s name and a date window for the change, so much the better. Don’t be surprised if you don’t get anywhere initially – especially if you get a support person who cannot cope with any question that is not part of their “script”. You may need to push them on this one. You can also tell them that we’ve tagged the topic for their attention in these forums. 🙂

Thank you. I guess that’s where I’ll go next!

    haynerfide,

Have you duplicated the issue in multiple browsers? Also, have you tried to update your WordPress to the most recent version? If it were a change on our servers, I’m fairly certain we’d be hearing about multiple users experiencing the same issue. I’d be happy to see what we can do to troubleshoot it for you though.

I see you’ve disabled all plug-ins and tried reverting to the Twenty Eleven theme without success.

I’d be interested to know if it does occur across multiple browsers as it could possibly be a browser-specific or add-on/extension issue. Also, if you’re not running the most recent version of WordPress, upgrading may be an idea.

Additionally, you may want to consider uploading a fresh WP-Admin folder. I can’t guarantee that will fix it, but it’s been known to fix this issue for other users.

NOTE: Please be sure that if you do choose to upload a fresh WP-Admin, you use one from the same version of WordPress you have installed at the time of the upload.

It does happen across all browsers (I’ve tried Firefox, Chrome, and IE) and I am using the most recent WP release, 3.4.1 I believe?

I’ll try reuploading the WP-Admin folder again when I get home (Currently at work without access to my files). Thank you for popping in here to check on this. I’ll update as soon as I give it a shot.

Alright, an update. I again reuploaded a fresh copy of /wp-admin/ and nothing changed. I feel like I’m losing my mind with this.

We ran some tests with your database, imported it into a fresh WordPress and didn’t have any issues with the Dashboard. This leads us to believe there may be issues with the files.

Potentially, you could re-install WordPress and import your content and database, but we do have some other ideas for you to try that we don’t want to discuss in a public forum. If you’d like, we can give you a call to chat about this. If you’d like to do that, please let me know when a good time to call during business hours would be. We’re on Arizona time if that helps.

I’m not going to be able to get away from work and home to my laptop before end of business today. Potentially tomorrow on my lunch break, 12:30 central? I believe that’s 10:30a in Arizona?

The fact that you were able to bring the backup into a new WP makes me feel a lot better as if all else fails, that’s a possible fix.
