Update: I deleted and reinstalled the plugin, but the problem persists. I’m not using Jetpack’s carousel or any other lightbox plugin besides FooBox Free. There are also no javascript errors on the page (that I’m aware of). We have ten galleries on the site and everything seemed to be working just fine until some point in the last few weeks.
@amandelman, which foogallery extensions do you have activated. Also, what browser are you using? And what version of WP? I want to try and replicate your issue on my end
Just FooBox Free (which I also tried deactivating and reinstalling). I’m using Chrome. And WP 4.2.2. I can give you login cred if that would help.

turned out to be a javascript error causing the problem. A conflict with the farbtastic script in the admin that was being called by the theme.
