Add Image by URL – Add image to gallery?

    Rather than downloading an image to my computer, then uploading it, is there any plugin that will allow me to add an image by URL without hotlinking to it?

    Seems like it would be a simple plugin. The idea is that when you enter the URL, the image is auto downloaded directly into the wordpress gallery.

    I’ve searched up and down, but can’t find a plugin that will do this.

    Hot Linked Image Cacher – this plugin is similar to what we all want.

    but it needs much tweaking. please try your hands and update here.

    there is another plugin called “add linked images to gallery”
    I am using it in my blog http://www.crazybulb.com
    Though it has a issue, i am trying to find a solution for it. if it works, it will be great.

    Yes, use Add Linked Images To Gallery.

    I am the author of that plugin, and it does exactly what you’re asking about.

    Also, the issue saurabhdidwania mentioned was related to WordPress installations running on PHP in SafeMode, and it’s been fixed.
