    Hello,

I am finding myself using WP Boostrap Starter more and more as the basis for my projects. I found a site that I want to build where I would like to just add on to the Google Fonts that the parent (WP Boostrap Starter) theme was already using. That way, I can select some other Google fonts from the dropdown that i think would serve this website’s theme and mood better.

I had tried just looking at this as a “okay, well just hook into the core Customizer and you should be able to add more”, as per tutorials like this: https://wpbuffs.com/how-to-change-a-font-in-wordpress/ (I was attempting to do it through #3 “Add WordPress Custom Fonts Through Simple Coding”)

However, I found that trying this (using a child theme of WP Bootstrap starter) failed. Is there a method (specific to this theme) to do this? I thought maybe it has to do with this call from /wpbootstrapstarter/inc/customizer.php (line 18)

    Hi @webmistressm,

This is supposed to be a feature request and can be found another thread like this here https://wordpress.org/support/topic/create-a-preset-style-in-a-child-theme/. Though as of now there’s no ongoing plan for this but I will take note of this see if this can be applied in future updates.

Thank you, that would be appreciated to make that consideration.

Would it be safe to say that, adding on my Google fonts* into my child theme just by simple CSS calls and loading it in functions.php? (Reference to what I mean in detail, covered in this older tutorial: https://wpsmackdown.com/google-fonts-wordpress/#google-font-face)

    * whether self-hosted or hosted with Google. I dont mind self-hosting the fonts

    Hi @webmistressm,

Yes, there are two ways to add your custom font, you could download and generate the font and adding it on style.css and theme folder or add Google Font by enqueuing it on the functions.php; Please take note that generating font is to provide compatibility on most browsers, I would suggest this https://transfonter.org/ for generating needed fonts.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
