• I can’t seem to figure this one out. Do I need a plugin to add a free download on a post. I also us e-commerce but want to occasionally put free downloads in posts.

Can someone instruct me on how this is done?!! Thx!

  • No, you don’t need a plugin for that.

When you are editing your post content, click on the ‘media’ icon above the editor window. It’s the one that looks like a camear with a music note behind it if I remember rightly. Upload your file there, and you can “insert into post”.

I am able to insert it that way but it doesn’t allow you to download it. I added it to my down load files and inserted it that way also and it still wont work.

Do you have a URL of a page that it’s not working on? How I’ve said there is how it always works for everyone else, so it seems strange that it’s not working for you.

The download button keeps saying checkout. My store is not set up yet. Still working on the site.

OK, it looks like whatever cart software you’re using is adding that in. This isn’t the “standard” wordpress way of having it happen, so I can’t tell from just this.

What shopping cart plugin is it, and what else have you got installed?

I even directed it to say download and it still comes up saying checkout so I think it is in my settings somewhere but can’t find it. Tried lots of things.

It’s e-commerce. Still working on my store though.

Got it. I had to change it to PDF file instead of PNG.
