There is code in custom_authenticate_cas and elsewhere that tries to guess the second-level domain (actually refers to TLD but that’s not accurate given the description, eg. example.edu). The problem is that this doesn’t work for many countries, eg. com.au, co.uk, co.nz.

The result of this is that users from my university have incorrect emails created. For example, instead of e1234@rmit.edu.au it creates e1234@edu.au.

Would it be possible to have a custom field to specify the SLD or, probably more usefully, to specify the default email domain (as this may be different again)?

In case it’s relevant, the CAS server at our university doesn’t return any attributes so this wouldn’t help, ie. phpCAS::getAttributes() is an empty array.
