@chinnz25 Thanks for your feedback! We’ll be releasing frequent updates to keep improving the features for cricket 🙂

Some notes on your feedback, hoping to get more info so we can make improvements quickly:

Option to display Captain, Wicket Keeper in matches
Would it work if we add these fields to the “Details” section in the Edit Event screen? (Similar to the Competition and Season fields, but you would choose from players instead)

Or would it be better to have an icon/dropdown next to each player in the Box Score section to choose the Captain and Wicket Keeper?

Option to display Not Out in Matches
Looking at this scorecard, I’m wondering if we could add a text input field next to each player name where free text can be entered, for example “b D. Smith” or “Not Out”. Would you agree with this solution?

Separate order to display bowlers (now its showing in the order of batting, but there is separate bowling order in real matches)
You’re right, the order will be the same for batsmen and bowlers. We need to add a way to select 2 different orders. I’ll look into ways to do this.

Need Extras columns like “No Ball, Wides, Byes, Leg-Byes”
Could these be simple text/number inputs below each team?

The score should be displayed like 110/9
    Noted!

    This will be fine

I think u can add additional input column, in which we can number the bowler’s order, the bowling section should sort based on that number order.
or separate the box score into two, one for batsman and another for bowler, there we can sort

    # Need Extras columns like “No Ball, Wides, Byes, Leg-Byes”

    yup,

    Noted!

Thanks for the awesome quick reply. I love your work guys, you doing great.

@chinnz25 Thanks for your notes. Good idea regarding the box score separated into two, that would probably be best for the user. We’ll aim to release an update soon with the mentioned improvements 🙂

@chinnz25 I’m happy to say that we’ve just released SportsPress for Cricket v0.9.1, with solutions for these points you mentioned above:

    • Option to display Not Out in Matches (via “Notes”)
    • Separate order to display bowlers (via “Batting” tab)
    • Need Extras columns like “No Ball, Wides, Byes, Leg-Byes” (also via “Notes”)
    • The score should be displayed like 110/9

This version requires SportsPress 1.9.9 which has also been released.

The remaining feature that I’d like to ask you about it Captain and Wicket Keeper. When viewed on the website, should these be displayed above/below the scorecard, or in another way?

Thanks again for your ongoing feedback and your help with the Tamil translations as well!

First I wanna thank the SPORTSPRESS TEAM for implementing these features in short time span.

    # Captain and Wicket Keeper can also be mentioned in “Note” column, hence no need for separate feature for this purpose.

    # Empty “Notes” column is displaying as 0 by default. I think this will mess with old matches. So I think if the Notes column didnt have any value means it can be hidden or should not display anything.

@chinnz25 Thanks for your feedback! Glad that the notes column can be used for captain and wicket keeper, this makes things a lot simpler.

You’re right, empty notes are being rendered as 0. This will be fixed in the next update.

@chinnz25 Version 0.9.2 fixes the notes being rendered as 0, and instead will display them as empty cells. Let me know if you notice anything else that should be adjusted for Cricket 🙂

How to display the score like 110/5?

    Plugin Author Brian

    (@brianmiyaji)

@chinnz25 The extension will automatically add the result that comes after the primary result to the score. The new preset includes a “Wickets Lost” result, but if you’ve configured previously you can add this via SportsPress > Configure. Be sure to enter a number in the “Order” field so that the column comes directly after Runs or Points.

The recommended results are (in order):

    Runs, Wickets Lost, Overs, BP

Since Runs is primary, Wickets Lost will become the secondary result and be displayed after the ‘/’.

Let me know if that works!

    Features:
    # Option to add Umpires at the bottom of the page.

    Optional:
    # Now the order value works with Batting Order. I think we can add another order column for Bowling also.
    # By default for all players Batting position can be pre-selected in Box Scoring.
    # Time can be removed from the Details.

    Plugin Author Brian

    (@brianmiyaji)

@chinnz25 Thanks! Umpires will be provided in the future as an extension for adding Match Officials (Umpires, Referees, etc).

Bowling Order can be changed by clicking and dragging the handles in the scorecard. Does this still need to be added as a separate input field?

If time is not needed, we can remove it.

    (@chinnz25)

    # thank you….

    # instead of batting order, bowling order can be given, coz batting side values are more, hence the batting scores can be added easily in the box scoring order. bowlers are limited hence they can search and add. this is just an optional feature.

    # I removed time by editing wp-content/plugins/sportspress/templates/event-details.php file. This permanently removes time from my site, hence I dont need time for any match, its ok for me. But one person requested to hide time in particular match alone refer. hence this feature can also added

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for the plugin, its awesome!

Im busy making a site for our social cricket team, playing around with matches adding scores and so on, I get the following warning:

Warning: Illegal string offset ‘_notes’ in C:\xampp\htdocs\WP\wordpress\wp-content\plugins\sportspress-for-cricket\sportspress-for-cricket.php on line 412

It was initially empty, i’ve also added values to the notes with same warning.

Is it possible to calculate Averages for batting e.g (Runs scored) / (outs) taking into account not outs?

This fix the warning for my site: Replace ‘_notes’ in the function event_performance with [0], like so:
    $data[ $team_id ][ $player_id ][0] = sp_array_value( $stats, ‘_notes’, ” ) . ‘ ‘;
The warning might be from a PHP 5.3 to PHP 5.4 upgrade, where 5.3 automatically convert a string passed as array to [0], but I’m no PHP programmer. (Me thinks this should go under a new thread, but anyway here it is)
