Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Add custom products temporarily, but hidden, to keep track of order

  • Hello,

I have a very specific question, but none of my google searches got a decent hit.
I’ll try to be as thorough as possible.

I have a heavily customised shop. Items are severely customizable too. And yet, 1/4th of my sales is offline since even more customisation is possible. Some customisations just aren’t programmable and prices vary too much.
Keeping track of all those offline sales is timeconsuming. It would be great If I could keep track of the sales within the shop. Having the shop handle payment and invoices frees up a huge amount of time AND reduce human error.

So, my idea was, can I temporarily add a ‘product’, hidden to general public, but when placed in the cart (and cart saved with a plugin) still visible for my customer. When the customer visits the cart, his custom product is visible and he can complete the transaction. After that, my proces stays the same as all online sales.

Any idea or suggestion is more then welcome.
    Thanks!

    Hi there,

Yes – that’s perfectly possible and the workflow you’re describing mirrors the function of creating manual orders. For more information on how that’s done, have a look at the following guides:

Hi, and thanks for the reply!

Your suggestion is well received, but it’s one step ahead in the proces of where I’m at. (Or I’m not understanding the offered solution right)

I use saved carts (with unique link) to send out offers. See here for an example: Several products in a cart

Combining several products from the shop to one combined package, tailored to the customers project. Within that package, one of the products is custom to ‘standard available customisations’. (E.g. very custom color, price very dependant on stock. Or additional productionprocess, price dependant on order size).

So, for that one customer I need to create a specific item, priced accordingly, added to the custom cart with unique link, not visible to other customers in the shop. If customer is satisfied with the price and quoted products, he can then finalise the order and pay. At that point, the standard procedure takes over.

I hope this clears it up.

Edit: link nr2 might have been the right answer. Looking into it now.

    Sadly,
it’s not what I’m looking for. The form works with products available in the shop. I seek to temporarily add a ‘product’ until the order has been delivered. The product is a unique item for that specific customer. It will be combined with several regular items in the cart. If the customer is satisfied, the order could be paid for.

    Any suggestions are definitiely welcome.
    Thanks!
