• Hi All,
I have successfully set up my website mrsginger.com using the twenty twelve theme. I can’t seem to add a comments box for people to join in and discuss my blog posts however!

    What I have done already:

    1. Gone to Settings, discussion, and ensured comments are allowed.
    2. Gone to posts and ticked allow comments
    3. Gone to my page for the Beauty Blog and allowed comments.
    4. Cautiously as I’m new to this and don’t know programming, I replaced <?php comments_template( ”, true ); ?> in the Single.php file with <?php comments_template(); ?> as suggested in a thread but it changed nothing.

None of this has worked and there is zero showing regarding comments. Can someone help please and put it in plain language? I’ve even tried looking for comment box plugins but can’t get anything to work :0(
    Thanks!
    Karen

    – try deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).

    – If no joy, try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Tara, thank you so so much for your reply, I truly appreciate it. I did what you suggested with plug ins and it made no difference. Then I changed the theme, and voila, there is the comments box on each page.

However, I also now see that there is a “leave a reply” on my 2012 theme and that makes sense since a large comments box under each blog would look messy. I have tested it out and it seems to work fine.

Thanks again for your help. I do have another issue that I’m still trying to figure out also – all my photos are showing with a sort of pink veil across them, regardless of what size they are, where the photo comes from (I’ve tried from my DSLR and from the web). Any ideas?

I’ve solved it! Am using an online image optimiser and that seems to be the trick :0)
