I really, really hate disruption. Especially before my first coffee. I wake up this morning and go to add a youtube video to a news story on my recently-perfected and updated to 4.1 VLOG and THERE ARE EMPTY PARAGRAPH TAGS INSERTED ABOVE AND BELOW MY VIDEO BY 4.1.

Yes, I just shouted at you. I. Am. So. Mad.

It would have taken 5 seconds to post that video and have my morning coffee. Now I have to devote my ENTIRE DAY to fixing what WP has shoved down the throats of 22% of the Internet.

By the time you read this I will have found a way to code it out.

I swore I would never update again. But I trusted you. And now I’ve lost another day of my life to WordPress development. Stop fixing things that aren’t broken!

If you would care to give a code example I can look at, a way to reproduce the problem on a test site, then I can look and see what changed there.

I can’t think of any reason for it to have changed in this respect. The texturize functions changed somewhat, but nothing that would be specific to a YouTube video’s oembed iframe.

I’m working it and will update you when I can Sam — so far it’s looking like this has cropped up before back in 2011:

    http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/29702/wordpress-automatically-adding-nbsp.

Specifically, every time I Update Post or switch between Visual and Text editor TinyMCE is adding &nbsp before and after my video embeds – 4.1 with latest release.

Stop switching between Visual and HTML editors. Really; unless you want to use option #1 above, don’t switch between editors. WordPress is intended to be used such that content is entered using the Visual or the HTML editor, but not both simultaneously.

I wanted to bring that one comment over from the SE post you linked to. I really hate saying it, but it’s a true statement and reflects an issue with TinyMCE :/

What plugins are you running? Do any have anything to do with the editor? And why are you switching back and forth?

Thanks Mike – it’s taken care of. WP is going to have to address stability of platform, legacy support and backporting if it’s going to maintain/increase market share as a commercial CMS. Happy New Year !!

Could you share with the class?

I mean, if you want us to fix things, it helps if you tell us how you solved the problem so we can use that information to find the root cause (and if it’s tinyMCE, that would make it harder than if it was just WP).
