Support » Plugin: Breadcrumb NavXT » Add blog link to breadcrumbs

  • Hi,

I have a theme based blog page located at https://opsicilie.nl/blog/. Is there a way to add a link to this “parent page” on every blog post? I now get home (root, not blog root) – category – post, but I’d like to have home – blog – category – blog post.

I have not set the blog page in reading, as this messes up the design of the page.

    Thanks,
    Don

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Setting the blog page in reading is the only officially supported means of telling Breadcrumb NavXT to include the blog breadcrumb into the breadcrumb trail. If doing so messes up the design of the page, I would suggest looking at why that is the case since you should have quite a bit of flexibility over this via the home.php theme file.

Otherwise, if you really want to, the best way to force the breadcrumb’s inclusion is to change the apost_post_root entry in the options array when it is returned by get_option(). That is, write a hook for the option_bcn_options filter, in the array passed into the filter, look for the apost_post_root entry and replace it with the ID of the page your are using for the blog page.

    Hi John,

Thanks for your reply. The design gets messed up, because the page is made with a theme builder (Elegant themes, Divi). So, when I make opsicilie/blog the WP blog page, I lose certain elements (see: https://www.elegantthemes.com/forum/download/file.php?id=440707). Not sure how to get those back to be honest.

    Cheers,
    Don
