Add a short code/ category in title and/or description

Hi there,

I am looking to add a category to the extended recent post. It it could be in the title or description that would be great. When I add a picture to reference a new podcast for example, it just ignores images/ shortcodes. Help on this matter would be much appropriated as time is not on my hands here.
