I am having issues trying to install the AdSense plugin. The Google Site Kit installed, but that feature did not. I get the following error:

“Ad blocker detected, you need to disable it in order to set up AdSense”

    Troubleshooting tried:
    – Incognito Chrome Browser
    – iPhone app access
    – Deleting all plugins related to security
    – Disabling Chrome ad blockers temporarily
    – Safari Browser on desktop
    – Safari Browser on iPhone
    – Uninstalling and re-installing Site Kit after disabling adblocker on Chrome

Furthermore, if I wanted to try the route of putting Adsense code into an HTML file, instead of using the WordPress.org plugin, how do I find and edit the HTML files for my WordPress.org website? Is that possible?

Thanks for reaching out and for sharing the troubleshooting steps you’ve taken so far. As you’ve already performed various checks please try the below and inform me if you’re able to proceed:

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window.
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    5. Attempt to connect the AdSense modue once more

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

Furthermore, if I wanted to try the route of putting Adsense code into an HTML file, instead of using the WordPress.org plugin, how do I find and edit the HTML files for my WordPress.org website? Is that possible?

I wouldn’t advise editing your WordPress theme files for the purpose of inserting your AdSense snippets. Your WordPress files are PHP files all contained within your theme folder if you wish to do so, although this is not something we provide support for. Unless you’re using a child theme you’re also at risk of theme updates overwriting your custom additions.

Thanks for the update. If you’d like to share your Site Health information I’d be happy to check your current setup. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.

Note that we are also investigating reports of GoDaddy users encountering this notice. If you are a GoDaddy user there are more details contained with the GitHub issue below:

I do have a platform through Go Daddy managed wordpress, and I am using the Divi theme.

Many thanks for the update. In that case I’ll add your site details to that related GitHub issue, many thanks for sharing. One workaround at the moment for this issue is to temporarily deactivate the GoDaddy CDN while you’re connecting the AdSense module. After doing so you can once again enable the GoDaddy CDN.

We are still investigating this so I’ll keep you updated here once I have any update on this.

How do you disable GoDaddy CDN? My site is on a managed wordpress part of Go Daddy?

    Plugin Support James Osborne

    (@jamesosborne)

@hopel You’ll find that option from your GoDaddy hosting settings after logging in. This is demonstrated via this screenshot.

We expect a fix out for this early next week.

@hopel We’ve now implemented a fix for the issues with the GoDaddy CDN in the latest version of Site Kit, version 1.3.0, which was released yesterday. Many thanks for your patience on this. Can you update to the latest version and confirm this is now working as expected? Thank you!
