I have been unable to set up Adsense. I am getting this error, “Ad blocker detected; please disable it to set up Adsense.” I obtained my WordPress page through Bluehost and am using the Site Kit by Google plugin. I cannot find any ad blockers. Please help with what I need to do to resolve this issue.

    Hi @lacresiaf,

Thanks for opening a support topic. If you’re encountering an Ad Blocker notice, without an Ad Blocker active, please attempt Site Kit set up using a Chrome browser incognito notice. There may be something at browser level triggering this notice.

If the same occurs, and you’re unable to complete set up please share your Site Health information and we can investigate this further.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Thank you for your quick response. I did attempted to install in Incognito on Chrome and was unsuccessful.. I filled out the form and just sent site health information. Thanks again for your help!

Thanks for providing the additional details @lacresiaf.

As nothing obvious stands out from checking your Site Health information, please perform the steps below and share whether you’re able to proceed with Site Kit set up.

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    5. Attempt to setup Site Kit once more

If the same occurs I may ask you to attempt set up using a disposable WordPress site, to check does the same pre-setup notice appear.

I tried all of the above and was still unsuccessful.

Thanks for checking this. The next check we can perform, to rule out local software triggering this notice, is to attempt Site Kit set up using the Taste WP link below:
    https://tastewp.org/plugins/google-site-kit/

Please let me know if you’re able to proceed with Site Kit set up using that link. This is a temporary WordPress install, not using your own domain name. If the same occurs can you share what browser you’re using, and if you have any browser extensions active.

I completed the steps as above and again ran into the notification that there was an ad blocker preventing AdSense set up.

The browser I am using is Chrome on Linux/ Chrome on Chrome OS 13816.

    Thanks again!

Good to know. Many thanks for performing this check. What we can do next is a check from another device. This can help rule out local software triggering this notice.

Do you have a mobile phone or another device from where you can attempt AdSense set up with?

I attempted to set up Adsense with my IPhone and was unsuccessful.

Thanks for the update. I’ve checked a test site using the same Bluehost platform and I don’t see anything at host level which could be triggering this notice.

As we’ve already attempted setup from another site, from another device and also from a Chrome browser incognito window with all other plugins active, please share whether you’re familiar with setting up Cloudflare on your site. I ask because it looks like you have DNS records pointing to Cloudflare servers. If you’re unsure this may have been activated at host level. If you do recall setting up Cloudflare I can propose some troubleshooting suggestions, which may include temporarily deactivating.

If you’re unsure on how you’ve set up Cloudflare I may ask you to make a screen recording of your experience so I can discuss this unusual case with the team. This may be from the tastewp site I suggested, as this wouldn’t be impacted by any Bluehost or Cloudflare configurations.

    Hi, James osborne
I am glad to know that you’re helping on ad blocker detected.
I’m facing the same problem from past 2 weeks. I have also tried all the things you have told above to do but nothing is working. Still the error [adblock detected] is showing.
I need your help to resolve this problem.
    Regards

    Hi Amrutha,

Sorry to hear that this notice remains. Based on the issue appearing from a TasteWP site and from other devices I’ll need to check this with the team.

Can you please make a screen recording of you setting up Site Kit from the below link:
    https://tastewp.org/plugins/google-site-kit/

I’ll then discuss this with the team. You can use a service such as RecordIt or Loom to share. To share a link to your recording privately you can use this form.

    Hi James,
I have screen recording the setting up Site Kit from the below link:
https://tastewp.org/plugins/google-site-kit/ and I couldn’t upload it here, though I don’t see any options to upload.
    Regards
    Amrutha

    Hi Amruta,

If you have a URL with the recording, you can provide the URL for your video recording here, or privately using this form.

If your screen recording is a video file, and not a URL, you an upload it to Google Drive, and share the link here, or in the same form suggested above. Please make sure it’s public, so we can view.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hi Amruta,

Many thanks for sharing this. I’ll check this with the team and report back to you here with updates. Please allow me some time for this. I’ll hopefully have an answer this week. If not this will be early next week.

Note that in the meantime, you can insert your AdSense snippet manually if you wish, and not use Site Kit.
