Support » Plugin: NS Cloner - Site Copier » Actual or Virtual Subfolder

  • I have a multisite network set up on Genesis famework. I need to have the ability to clone sites easily so I installed NS-Cloner plugin. I have cloned my home directory site successfully…I think. I mean, I can go to the site and see the content with new title, I can go to admin panel etc… However, I do not see an actual subdirectory for new site on my server. Should I? If not, and these are actually virtual paths, how can I change site specific css on the network with affecting every site using that theme. Hope this is making sense. Thx -John

    Hi John,

Yes, that is correct – you won’t see a new subdirectory because WordPress multisite does indeed use virtual paths to serve multiple sites from the same place.

There are two good options for changing the CSS for one site without affecting the others:

    1. Use a plugin like Simple Custom CSS (easiest option, best option if this will be the only site that has this CSS)
    2. Create a child theme for that site with your site-specific CSS (a bit more complex but will make it easier if you want SOME cloned sites to have this same custom CSS, just not all of them)

Hopefully that helps – let us know if any of that is unclear or you have further questions!
