Support » Plugin: Really Simple SSL » Activation of plugin causes error 500 on website

  • When activated, the plugin shuts down access to the WP console, error 500. The website still works, but not the WP console. Tried installing it twice.

This usually means you should uncheck the ‘flush rewrite rules’ on activation.

Sometimes another plugin flushes the rewrite rules too early causing Really Simple SSL to flush an empty object.

It’s also possible you are close to your memory limit. As activating Really Simple SSL will cause a temporary memory peak, due to the flushing of the rewrite rules, this could push your memory usage over the edge. If you contact our support we can usually fix this in minutes. You can either start a support topic, or submit a ticket at https://really-simple-ssl.com/support
