    Hi,

I am having a serious issue with making WordPress Network to work properly. I have followed all instructions on the WordPress site, however, I am trying in vain to add new site as sub-domain to work.

I had set up my wordpress on my add-on domain and after installation was over, I tried to register myself for a blog as subdomain. I received an activation link to activate my blog and when i click on it, it brings up the default “Error Page 404 – page not found”. And if I go onto the subdomain, I would find the default page provided by my web host but no blogs…

I’ve un-installed WordPress twice and this time I even removed the add-on domain first and started all over again from scratch in order to ensure that it works fine. However, it is still not working.

Please can anyone advise how I could resolve this issue?

All help is the most welcome. Thank you.

Then you did the subdomain mapping wrong.

How did you map the wildcard subdomains?

Well to be honest i am not sure i’ve done any mapping at all…i know i’ve set up wildcard subdomains in my CP. I followed instructions from wordpress website on how to set up WP Network and it doesn’t talk about mapping. The site where WP is installed is http://www.mowebsite.com and this is an add-on domain, my primary domain initially registered with my web host being a diffrent domain. The wildcard subdomain *.mowebsite.com was set at the root folder. Is there anything that i should be doing please?

Pali, dude, deleted your posts. Make your own topic. It’ll be easier to help YOU that way 🙂

Mr_K, go ask your host. Normally that should be fine, but some hosts don’t let you wildcard an add-on like that.

    Thank you very much Ipstenu,

I actually contacted my host provider and they confirmed that they allow wildcard, however, it was a dead end as they they can’t seem to know where the problem is. They even advised me to remove everything and restart over….which i patiently did 3 times now 🙁

So now i am turning myself to the wordpress community for further help…..

Something’s wrong in your wildcard mapping: http://testing.mowebsite.com/ should go to http://mowebsite.com/wp-signup.php?=testing

So… where’s your wildcard pointed to? And where is mowebsite on the server?

It’s an addon, so is it like /public_html/mowebsite ?

    (@mr_k)

Well I have checked CPanel and after clicking on the subdomain option, I have the following configuration:

    (1) subdomain.Root domain is: *.mowebsite.com
    (2) document root is: public_html/
    (3) Redirection: Not directed

My primary account is logixtix.com and mowebsite.com is an add-on domain.

I am not sure if this is the information you requested. If this is not, could you please guide to where i could get further information for you please?

    Thank you Ipstenu, much appreciated.

Also after clicking on the Addon Domains option, I have the following configuration:

    (1) Addon domain is: mowebsite.com
    (2) document root is: public_html/mowebsite.com
    (3) Redirection: Not redirected

    Hope the above helps…..

    Wait…

    (1) Addon domain is: mowebsite.com
    (2) document root is: public_html/mowebsite.com

    and

    (1) subdomain.Root domain is: *.mowebsite.com
    (2) document root is: public_html/

Do you see what I see?

    Make it
    (1) subdomain.Root domain *.mowebsite.com
    (2) document root is: public_html/mowebsite.com

I have just un-installed wordpress for a fresh installation and so far the registration is working fine.
