• I’m seeing odd behavior from the image uploader in the admin area of my website. When uploading an image through the Media Library or the “Add Media” button on a post page (admin side), the time for an image to upload to my server varies from 30 to 60 seconds from the time that I drop the file onto the upload screen and the time that the uploader returns with the attachment details showing. This variation in timing was seen when uploading a single file, to the same site, multiple times.

I’ve found that if I disable my CDN, then the time to upload another image drops to somewhere around 2 seconds. All other options within the W3TC plugin are active (I use Page, Minify, Database, Object, and Browser in addition to a CDN) without any issues.

Is it possible that W3TC trying to automatically upload the new file to my CDN? If so, is there a way that I can disable that functionality and instead rely on using the “Upload Stuff” buttons on the W3TC CDN page? If not, what else might be causing this issue?

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

It looks like it’s definitely an issue with the CDN not responding as snappily as it should be. The FAQ section mentions that the plugin automatically uploads all new images to the defined cdn. So, it’s nothing that is, per se, incorrect with this plugin. We just need a high-level option to turn off this feature. This will, of course make it so that we’ll have to upload all new images to the cdn via the bulk methods. I’ll take the fast input any day though.

I’ll try to take some time and find where this is happening in the plugin and let you know what I find Ammalgam. Anything will help at this point until Frederick is able to get to this. As it’s not a debug issue, my guess is that it’ll be pretty low on the totem pole.
