    Hello everybody,

I’ve been searching a solution in the last hours for the following problem with no success, I read several posts describing the same problem but I did’t succeed to solve it t cause probably the root of the problem is different.

I just want to add a sidebar with widgets on the right of the frontpage banner image (replacing the grey area left by image resizing), but when I go to Admin -> Appearance-> Widgets and I add some widgets to an area, that area is not shown in Appearance-> Customize -> Widgets , that I reckon to be the standard beavhiour. Anyway looks like the widgets is created cause I added in the past social links on sidebar and that appear to some pages, just can’t see it on Customizer.

Anyway, I don’t know how to add this sidebar on the right of front page banner image, so I tried to add a sample widget like a Calendar to “Sidebar FrontPage ” in Appeareance -> Widgets hoping to see it on the right or somewhere else near the frontpage banner image but nothing happen.

I can’t understand if I’m doing a wrong procedure or is something else.

The fact the social links are present and can be configured but now shows in Customizer led me to a past event.

Sometime ago, trying to removing margins and paddings (I finally succeed), I was sure that those white spaces were the sidebars (I’m a wp beginner so some basic concepts were not clear) so I’m not sure if I did something irreversible to remove the sidebars, I say that cause I perfectly remember of a post explaining how to remove irreversibly sidebars but I can’t remember if I then did it, but looks likely cause I can’t find on Customizer just all the sidebars…all the rest for Header and footer is present..

Anyone help on how to check if I removed irreversibly the widgets and if there is any way to restore them? I read somwehere scary posts saying that I have to reinstall everything but also some other posts saying that something on the database could be done to restore them. Maybe is something erased from functions.php ?

Looks like I did many thing in the past to erase sidebars but the realized that were not the problem and now I need one and I can’t have it.

I need just an easy solution to have that sidebar on frontpage near the banner image.

    Thank you to everyone,

    Silvio
