• Greetings,

I am a total newbie to WordPress. Still planning my first production wordpress. Need some advice on coordinating accounts on a wordpress blog with accounts in a Google Apps domain.

For sake of discussion, let’s say I signed up for a domain called mydomain.com through google apps for your domain.

When people come to my wordpress site and create an account, I want the user name to be coordinated with the users in google apps. In other words, if the user creates a user name of “joep,” I want there to be a “joep@mydomain.com” created on the google apps site. Likewise, if there is already a joep registered then registration should not let him.

Likewise, I’d like the password and authentication to be managed by google apps. I understand that there is some support for authnetication using gogle apps domains via OpenID. But I’m a little fuzzy on what plugins are needed to make that happen.

But so far I haven’t seen any plugins that coordinate the account creation. All the openID plugins I’ve seen so far seem to let you associate an openID account with your wordpress blog login and login to already created accounts using the OpenID protocols.

I could put in some sort of manual process for all this, but would prefer to automate it if possible. Likewise, I’d much prefer that the user experience at the site is simply to create an account in mydomain.com which gives you certain rights at the wordpress site and access to certain services from Google Apps.

Anyone seen this sort of thing done before?
