Support » Fixing WordPress » Account is Gone?

  • Hi, I have spent the last 3 hours trying to log onto WordPress. My account seems to be gone. I have used wordpress to create a website for our family business. This is a nightmare. I haven’t signed on in awhile, and the last time I signed on I had a similar problem so I was careful to record the email I used, my username, and password. Last time, after 1/2 an hour, I was able to log on. This time even though I have cleaned cache, restarted the computer etc… I am not able to log on. The system does not recognize my username or email address to reset the password either. Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do? My user name should be hsmama11 I had to create a new account so I could log on to create this post. PLEASE HELP!!

    Try some of these password reset methods:

    What is the web address of your site?

    Hi, the web address is

    Hi James, I just tried the “retrieve administrator email via FTP” protocol on the link you recommended. I edited the akismet php file and inserted the text they supplied (after filling in my email address). I got an email with a reset password. I then re-edited the askimet php file so that it was restored. I used the logon link they sent me: and tried to sign on using my hsmama11 user name and the new password they sent me, but I got this….

    Warning: require_once(ABSPATHwp-admin/includes/bookmark.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/j/a/n/jankoweb/html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 11

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘ABSPATHwp-admin/includes/bookmark.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php’) in /home/content/j/a/n/jankoweb/html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 11

    what did I do wrong?

    Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
