Support » Fixing WordPress » Accidentally deleted all the pages and couldn’t load any theme

  • I accidentally deleted all my pages. Now whenever I install a new theme, The page shows plainly with some texts and in the widget area it says,

“Your theme has 2 other widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t display them.
You can navigate to other pages on your site while using the Customizer to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages.”

I don’t know how to resolve it. I have even deleted the entire site and opened a fresh one still this issue isn’t solved.

    Please help and Thanks!

  • I accidentally deleted all my pages.

How did this happen? Deleting ALL pages will require multiple clicks and confirmations. How does that happen “accidentally”?

And deleted pages would go into the TRASH, from where you can easily restore them. Or was the trash also emptied “accidentally”?

“Your theme has 2 other widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t display them.

That is normal, and not indicative of a problem with your site… nor is it connected to the deletion of pages.

You can find all the widgets on your site at APPEARANCE => WIDGETS.

In CUSTOMIZER, the widgets may be scattered all over the place, not necessarily in the WIDGETS section of the customizer, Hence this message.

What’s your actual problem? What are you trying to do that you’re unable to do?

@gappiah I didn’t delete everything Cousin of mine did that.

I’m new to this and Whenever I install a theme It shows only the simple page without the pictures and widgets, I don’t know exactly how to retrieve back. Hope you understand what my situation is.

“Your theme has 7 other widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t display them.

You can navigate to other pages on your site while using the Customizer to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages.”

This is what I’m getting and the theme shows a plain page with Hello World! text on it.

Need to know how to get back the website.

I’ve already told you above that the message you’re seeing about widgets is normal, it’s to be expected, that’s not indicative of a problem and has nothing to do with the specific problem you may be having.

Need to know how to get back the website.

If you’ve deleted your ENTIRE SITE as you say, then there’s no going back… unless you have a BACKUP that you can restore. If you didn’t take any backup yourself, please get in touch with your hosting company and ask if they have a backup of your site that they can restore for you.

I’m new to this and Whenever I install a theme It shows only the simple page without the pictures and widgets,

Installing a new theme does not automatically give you everything in the theme’s beautiful demo site… if that’s what you’re expecting to see right after installing a theme.

You’ll need to follow the particular theme’s instructions and configure the theme to build out your site. You’ll also need pages or content on your site for for the design to come out (think of buying a new cloth: the folded cloth doesn’t say much: you need to put the cloth on a human body or at least on a mannequin … to really see its beauty.)

    So, in summary…

    1) If you deleted a fully-built site and you don’t have a backup, please contact you to see if they can restore your site for you. WordPress.org only provides the free WordPress software. Your site is not hosted here, and we can’t help you restore a deleted site if you don’t have a backup.

    2) If you don’t have any backup and you’re trying to build afresh, please let me know:

    — Your site’s address
    — The theme you’re trying to use

Then I can point you in the right direction to get started.

Please MAKE SURE TO ADDRESS THE ABOVE TWO “SUMMARIES” IN YOUR RESPONSE to avoid going back and forth on the same issue instead of moving forward towards a resolution.

    Standing by.
