don’t know how to access my wp-config.php and i don’t think there is an FTP page
FTP isn’t a page. It’s a protocol. See FTP Clients for further details. Or ask your hosts for assistance., They may have a file management application that you can use to access your wp-config.php file or your current theme’s functions.php file.
The methods listed in Changing_The_Site_URL are the only way you can regain access to your site.
How do i find out who my hosts are. I just purchased the theme from wordpress and started working on it. Golf Web designs has worked on the site a bit too to customize certain elements, but they are not hosting are they? I am not tech savvy, so please speak in lamens terms for me.
Thanks,
Max
Your hosts are the people you are paying annually or monthly for your site. In this case it appears to be http://www.softlayer.com/
So what do i ask softlayer for? Again, i am not tech savvy, so imagine explaining it to someone who has never used a computer before. It would be most helpful.
Thanks,
Max
Ask if they have a file management application that you can use to access your wp-config.php file or your current theme’s functions.php file.
Okay, if they do, what do i do then. I have read that link that talks about adding two lines in your config.php page, but that makes no sense to me.

Thank you for your help. I have a note out to softlayer to have them send me those files. I will let you know when i get them as i will probably not understand how to fix it. But why does the admin page change when you these URLs get changed. Isn’t there a way that i can just log in and change it back. It seems very weird that the whole CMS for the site changes because of one redirect mistake.
why does the admin page change when you these URLs get changed.
Remember when you typed in your site’s url when installing WordPress? WP stored that url in two places in your database and uses those urls to create your site on demand. There are no files for Pages or posts. Everything is created dynamically from the information held in your database.
As soon as you changed one or both of the urls in Settings -> General, you forced WP to try and generate the site (and the admin area) elsewhere – which won’t work because all of the WordPress core files are now in the “wrong place”.
I understand about the site changin, but why does the admin area change too, and why doesn’t wordpress have the ability to correct these issues easily? Just curious.
Thanks,
Max
How is WordPress supposed to guess what site urls you actually should be using?
I am not referring to the website, just the CMS. Shouldn’t that always be accessible regardless of where the website lives. Just curious, not upset or anything. And it turns out SoftLayer is not hosting our site, it was another company called Golf Web Designs. But i appreciate your help on this matter.
Thanks,
Max
