    Local means very local — the machine on which the browser is running.

    So if you have a server that’s set up as a local host, you cannot access that site from other computers.

    I have recently been working on this very issue and today found the answer. I am now able to access my local WP on any device on my network, including my iPhone and iPad 🙂

    First thing you need to find out is the IP address or computer name where your local web server is running. I am using XAMPP and also Laragon on Windows 10. You then replace localhost with this IP address (or computer name) in your local WP site’s Settings > General > WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL). For example:

    http://localhost/my-site is replaced with
    http://192.168.0.xx/my-site where xx is the last value of your IP address

    So now, on your mobile for example, you can access the site by entering 192.168.0.xx/my-site

    Note that if any of your menu items contain the original link, i.e. Home, you will have to change and save it there as well.

    Cheers!
    Lyle

    Regarding the above:

    With XAMPP, the easiest way to find out which IP address to use is to start Apache and then click the Netstat button in the XAMPP control panel. Scroll down until you see the one highlighted in green showing port 80 and httpd dot exe and System.

    With Laragon, the IP to use is shown in the title bar of the Laragon control panel.

    @snifflevalve, You are a genious!!!
    Thank you very much. it works !!

    Good to hear that you got it to work! 🙂 I was also very surprised at how “simple” the solution was 🙂
