Hi – I have recently tried to set up a new wordpress site for a client. We are going through 123-Reg for hosting. There are a couple of options for installing WordPress. I can do it manually which I initially began trying but then realised that I can do an installation via 123 Reg itself.
I went through the steps and it uploaded wordpress to the server in the root directory..but when it said to click my URL to finish installation it does not work. With the domain name I have, there is web forwarding to another address. I am not sure if this has anything to do with why installation does not complete and I cannot access admin panel/wordpress back end. Sorry, I am just confused by this.

Also, when I tried to manually install WordPress following the steps on http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Step_2:_Create_the_Database_and_a_User
but when creating a database on 123 Reg it did not seem to give me access to privilages and made me rather confused.
I have already asked 123Reg a support question but they do not seem too helpful so I thought I would ask here. Maybe someone has used 123-Reg before.
    Thanks if anyone can help.

    My site is http://www.drivinglessonsbrightonhove.co.uk.

Having the EXACT same issues with 123-reg. After uploading via filezilla, I go to refresh my site and it keeps coming up with:

“Welcome to your new 123-reg website!
If you’ve uploaded your site but are still getting this welcome
page try doing a SHIFT+Reload or a CTL+F5 – this will clear the cache.

Good luck with your new website!

You can delete this page or change it’s content.”

    Any suggestions?

    Can you elaborate on this?

@neeklus: Please post your own topic. Your question is completely different.

Yes, basically the deal is that they have an existing site already in use http://www.1stchoicedrivinglessons.co.uk. I am to make a new version of this site with wordpress, (up to date etc and easier to use) then transfer the above domain name to the new site. The domain name I am using for the new site at the moment is http://www.drivinglessonsbrightonhove.co.uk – only a temporary address to use so the current site is not down while I build the new one. Then I will transfer it over if you see what I mean.
The web forwarding is already in place i guess…during my installation when it says to click on http://www.drivinglessonsbrightonhove.co.uk to finish it just goes straight to http://www.1stchoicedrivinglessons.co.uk and nothing else.
It seems to be staring me in the face but I am still not 100% sure about this!

Is the new site on the same server as the old one?
