Support » Plugin: GDPR Cookie Consent » Accessibility issue – ‘A button is empty or has no value text’

  • Resolved olihaslam

I’ve used an accessibility checker on our website home page ( and the only thing that throws an error is the GDPR Cookie Consent bar – see the report here:

The error says ‘Empty button: A button is empty or has no value text.’ I believe it is referring to the accept/reject buttons not having any text or alt text in them, even though they do have text in them!

The accessibility checker explains: ‘A <button> element is present that contains no text content (or alternative text), or an <input type=”submit”>, <input type=”button”>, or <input type=”reset”> has an empty or missing value attribute.’

Could you please advise me how to fix this? I’m not sure if it something I have done wrong (user error) or if there is a problem with the plugin’s code.

Thank you very much. Hope you can help!

  • From what I’ve seen, this plugin is not ADA compliant and has some major accessibility issues. @webtoffee – when will these accessibility features be added?

    Hi @olihaslam,

The plugin is not currently ADA compliant. We have added it to development backlogs to implement in future releases.
