Accessibility: guys please make the interface more legible

    Font-weight: 300, grey color and tiny font size. C’mon. I think I have never complained about a plugin’s interface, but guys, this is really not good. I doubt this approach can pass accessibility tests.

    After a few hours of work in Greenshift, I have to take a break, my eyes hurt. And I have a 27-inch 4K monitor.

    Please make it more comfortable to work with, for people whose eyesight is below average.

    Personally, I disagree. I find greenshift a joy to work with.

    Of course, for the average person, it’s not very accessible, but it’s a joy for developers who are used to working with CSS properties, so we don’t feel out of place.

    I do develop with CSS, Twig, etc. But I have never seen a modern interface with font-size: 8px (the units dropdown). Or font-weight: 300. That is insane.

    It has nothing to do with whether you are used to working with CSS properties or not, and only with your eyesight. I think you are confusing “accessibility” in the sense of difficulty level with “accessibility” in the sense it used in web design, for example in Google PageSpeed Insights.

    Tiny font size + font-weight 300 + grey color = pure horror if you don’t have the best eyesight.

    The way it is now, I can’t use it.

    No, I completely understand your point about accessibility, but in a way your reasoning would mean giving up certain functions. The advantage of being able to specify the unit and a precise number is that you can really go a long way in the quality of your design, to be able to adjust the smallest detail.

    When you emphasise accessibility as you would like to do, you lose some of that sense of detail in my opinion.

    But one thing’s for sure, there’s still room to improve the interface and make it more accessible. I can tell you that it has already evolved a lot in that direction since the first versions.

    What on earth would you lose or give up by increasing the font size in the interface and changing the font-weight to more sane 400? I am not talking about removing any features or settings, just about making the interface more comfortable for people who don’t have the best eyesight. Font-weight 300 and font-size: 8px are horrible and should never be used in interfaces.

    Hi. Font-weight will be increasing to 400.

    8px is Gutenberg UnitControl component, we prefer to keep them without intrusion so they are loaded the same as in core blocks. The same for colors. We don’t set custom colors and 1e1e1e is used in Gutenberg (which is not grey)

    Thank you very much. Font-weight 400 will make a huge difference.
