Mohammad
Hi Mohammad,
Thanks for the response. No, i want to retain the existing old site url ‘hampsteadbowmen.com’ so I need to redirect(?) to newsite?
Thanks,
Russell
Hi,
Have you installed the http://newsite.hampsteadbowmen.com through wordpress multisite?
Thanks
Mohammad
Hi Mohammad,
I think I basically understand but, when I go to Admin/settings/general, I don’t see the addresses you mention at all? I can only see them if I go to the database as follows:
wpmh_options: siteurl: http://newsite.hampsteadbowmen.com
Home: http://newsite.hampsteadbowmen.com
wpmh_2_options: siteurl: http://newsite.hampsteadbowmen.com/members1
Home: http://newsite.hampsteadbowmen.com/members1
members is the private members area sub-dir site. Do I change them both as you suggest?
Sorry for my lack of knowledge,
Russell.
Hi,
Please provide me screenshots of settings page.
Thanks
Mohammad
How do I attach screenshot files?
Hi,
Create the screenshots, upload with http://imgur.com and share the url.
Thanks
Mohammad
Hi,
just change the site url to http://hampsteadbowmen.com at WPMH_2_OPTIONS table.

Thanks
Mohammad
Hi Mohammad,
I haven’t tried anything…very nervous!
I was wondering about using redirect? I just experimented with one through CPanel and it worked fine and only took 5mins to do! Problem is, people can still access the old site in the root through existing Bookmarks etc. Is it possible to delete the old root site and still use redirect? Ultimately, I do want to get rid of the old site design.
I don’t know if this makes any sense….
Thanks,
Russell
Hi,
do you want to access this site newsite.hampsteadbowmen.com from hampsteadbowmen.com or hampsteadbowmen.com from newsite.hampsteadbowmen.com?
Thanks
Mohammad
Hi,
Thanks for the quick response
I want to access the site ‘newsite.hampsteadbowmen.com’ from ‘hampsteadbowmen.com’
Many thanks
Russell
Hi Mohammad,
I’ve been messing a bit more and I renamed the (old), existing website ‘WordPress’ file and this stopped visiters from seeing it via existing browser bookmarks. I can tell members to reset their Bookmarks.
So this suggests to me that by using a simple redirect in Cpanel, i could perhaps delete all the old website files and I’m done!? I appreciate that the full URL (newsite.hampsteadbowmen.com), will show up in links etc., but does this matter? We are a only a small private club – 100 members and ‘newsite’ is an acceptable name to be visible.
I am a complete novice and this may be highly irregular, but it seems to achieve what I want! is there any reason not to do this?
Regards,
Russell
