Support » Plugin: Ultimate Member - User Profile & Membership Plugin » Access to media gallery / User Profile Picture “invalid”

  • Hi there,

I use Ultimate Members to create an internal area on one webpage. This area has a separate navigation and includes a forum (Asgaros forum).

The basics work great, but I ran into a couple of problems, some very different, so I will create separate posts for these. The First two problems are around media, I don’t think these problems are connected, but both are about media:

1.) I want users to allow picture uploads, but I do NOT want to grant these users access to ALL media in media library. How can I make sure, that special users can only access their own pictures?

2.) Profile picture upload is not working, there is always an error message stating “Your image is invalid!”.
I saw a lot of posts here with this problem but no remedy to this problem that works. Any hints? My customer definitely wants individual profile pictures for the users, so I really need this function.

    Thank you very much,
    best regards

    Hi @nici-2,

    1. Can you please clarify how your users will upload pictures a where?
The ultimate member doesn’t provide access to the WordPress media library.

    2. The issue with profile pictures can be due to some conflicts with your theme or one of your plugins. Please do a quick conflict test so we can rule out any conflicts and see if this issue goes away. Here is the doc on how to do a conflict test if you are not sure how to do it.

    Regards.

    Hi Ultimate Member Support,

For 2.) Theme is Avada, I have deactivated nearly everything but to noch avail, image error message still there. I will try it again.

For 1.) Images will be uploaded through Asgaros Forum. It is wanted that users can upload pics in the forum. Is there a way to deactivate the WordPress Backend totally? I linked the “profile”-Link from the Asgaros forum to UM profile page. So “normally” a user wouldn’t see the WP backend.

Info: Asgaros forum links users to the wp backend user profile for editing user infos, so normally users would be led to the backend. By linking Asgaros profile links to UM profile I keep users in the frontend. So far so good, but user can type in /wp-admin as URL destination in Browser and thus access the backend anyway. I’d love to “close away” the backend totally for special user role

    Best regards,

However, Media Gallery is now hidden – don’t know why, I didn’t change anything. Thanks anyway.

So only the profile picture upload probem seeks to be solved…
