[Resolved] Access to customizing WP to Twitter values is not allowed for your user role.

  • WP to Twitter had an update today or yesterday

    I applied it and since then I have been unable to write custom tweets

    I don’t know why but on the widget it shows
    Access to customizing WP to Twitter values is not allowed for your user role.

    I am the GOD administrator account so not sure what’s going on.

    Any idea’s?

    Well, that shouldn’t have happened. If you change the permission settings for the option to update custom tweets can you get it back? Those permissions are a custom capability; if the upgrade failed to add that capability to the admin user role, you wouldn’t have it; but you should be able to get it back by resaving the settings.

    I’ve tried resaving the settings, I’ve even changed the dropdowns to Author level too but still the same.

    Thanks – I’ll check it out.

    Cheers, appreciate any help, (I’m assuming it’s your plugin) and really like the plugin, I’ll eventually be nabbing the pro version once I get the kinks worked out

    For the time being, drop this code into your theme’s functions.php file, reload your home page, then delete the code and let me know if you can view things again:

    $administrator = get_role('administrator');
    	$administrator->add_cap('wpt_twitter_oauth');
    	$administrator->add_cap('wpt_twitter_custom');

    Just did that

    No joy, same issue

    And your role is administrator? It’s not something else – a custom role of some sort?

    Correct, the administration account created with the original wordpress install.

    Quick question: are you running 2.4.2? I realize that you didn’t specify; and if you’re running any other version, it’s a different problem.

    The latest WP which I believe is 2.3.2

    Sorry for not stating, it asked me in the initial create thread option what version I’m on, I assumed the WP forums would post that on the thread somehow.

    sorry 3.3.2

    New version (2.4.3) just released; this should fix this problem for you, but do let me know if it doesn’t.

    That certainly does fix the issue

    I have one outstanding issue from this 2.4.2 version. One of the posts seems to have an error tweeting.

    There’s been an error posting your Twitter status! Visit your WP to Twitter settings page to get more information and to clear this error message.
    One or more of your last posts has failed to send a status update to Twitter. The Tweet has been saved, and you can re-Tweet it at your leisure.

    I cannot seem to get a new tweet to occur for this post, the saved one seems to be stuck. Is there a way to clear this?

    I’ve tried, don’t tweet this, do tweet this. Tried putting in a shorter tweet etc. It seems that the tweet was a few characters over the 140 limit and is now stuck in the system saved.

    Anyway to reset for this post?
