Support » Plugin: Product Widget Slider for WooCommerce » Not much for Free

  • I feel there is very little in the free version, 50% of the real estate on the widget is showing you what you could have if you upgraded and paid, and then the other widget isn’t accessible unless you do pay. I think free versions should not come with that many “commercials.”

    hello jefftg

Well this coming from another WordPress developer is certainly a surprise!

I do not think that you understand how this plugin works – the Woo Product Slider widget is fully functional in the Free Version – You see a second Widget which is the Woo Product Carousel which is activated in one of the 3 Premium versions of the plugin see screenshot –

I think that you have not used the one highlighted in red in the screenshot.

If the plugin was bait and switch WordPress would never allow it. This plugin is the Free version of a series of Premium plugin upgrades

    WooCommerce Widget Product Slider Free
    WooCommerce Widget Product Slider Premium
    WooCommerce Product Slider
    WooCommerce carousel and Slider

The Free version is fully functional and has over 4,000 active users. Those 4,000 plus user all enjoy these features

    * Creates an eye catching product slideshow in any widgetized area or sidebar.
    * Fully mobile and tablet responsive.
    * Shows products from any selected product category.
    * Set to show any number of products.
    * Fully customizable Widget Slider skin style and layout.
    * Touch swipe slider images in mobiles.
    * 7 different image transition effect plus random.
    * Image transition effects timing controls.
    * Optimized for all browsers including the notorious IE9, IE10, IE11 Lightweight, fast and powerful.

On top of that the plugin supports
    * All front end functions build with backbone.js
    * Front end Widget Sliders built with Sass #dynamic {Stylesheets}
    * Full automatic integration with WooCommerce JSON RESTful API.

As a WordPress developer I would have thought you would have noticed the time and attention that has gone into creating this plugin with other features like the Widget Skin Dynamic CSS editor.

As it explains on the plugins description”

a3rev Plugins Lite & Pro Version Admin Interface
    * All a3rev Lite Version plugins have exactly the same admin interface as the Pro Version.
    * Pro Version features and settings are inside of a Yellow border.
    * The Pro Version settings are all active on the admin panels But do not save and are not applied to the front end.
    * Upgrading to the Pro version activates all the Pro version Features and Settings and removes the Yellow side bar and borders.

jefftg we spend a lot of time maintaining the Free Version – if you look at the changelog you will see that there have been 9 new versions so far this year including this new feature

    * Added ability to Filter the products displayed from selected WooCommerce Product category by Recent (existing), Featured or On-Sale

As stated above the Free version of the plugin has 4,000+ active users – that is users who are happy with the features that the Free version plugin offers and do not need any more for their store.

As developers we choose to show the Premium version settings on the Lite version admin panels to help people like you understand that if required – there are additional features available in a Premium upgrade.

We have 19 plugins on the WordPress repository –

Of those 19 – 16 are Free version – in other words they have Premium upgrades – 3 have no premium upgrades.

Of those there are 6 Free WooCommerce plugins – including this one – the Free versions are all fully functional with 10,000s of active users.

jefftg I hope that you try the plugin again and use the Woo Product Slider Widget – you will see that is is fully functional and creates a beautiful WooCommerce Product Slider that the front end style can be set with the Dynamic CSS skin settings.

Then I hope as a fellow developer that you might think that your review is borne out of a misunderstanding and change it.

You were right and i apologize for the harshness of the wording of the review and have changed that. I was in a place with bad connection and trying to work quickly and did not have time to read how the yellow boxes are for the paid and the little bit in between is for the free (on that one version.)

I stand by my current review that it is a very ad laden plugin and I don’t care for that.
