Did you manage to install and activate the Jetpack plugin by going to Plugins > Add New in your dashboard?

Once you’ve done so, you will have to connect your blog to your WordPress.com account to be able to use the different modules. You can do so by going to the Jetpack menu.

Does that help, or do you see any error messages when trying to activate the plugin or connect to WordPress.com?

I’ve just installed the plugin but cannot find the area that asks me to connect to wordpress.com. I’ve checked on the dash and the jetpack menu.

You should see a link to connect to WordPress.com at the top of the Jetpack menu, like so:

If you do not see that link, could you try to switch to a different theme, and see if the Connect message appears?

wow that’s odd, that worked. But now turns out my site is inaccessible “site_inaccessible” .. whole new problem.

If you have installed WordPress in a development environment, or if your site is private, you will indeed need to make it public before to connect to WordPress.com.

Your site needs to be publicly accessible to be able to communicate with WordPress.com.

contacting the host right now. thanks for your help.
