Support » Plugin: Autoptimize » Above the fold

  • Hi,
    I have a lot of css and js files blocking Above-the-fold content. I’ve seen the video, but I have some questions:
    – Can I do the same for javascrip files?
    – What can I do if I have more then one link to optimize?
    – Can I create critical path css also for external link?

    evening @ositive;
    1. the principle of inlining critical CSS and deferring the “real” CSS that overrides the inlined one when loaded, does not apply to JS
    2. best solution is to enable AO CSS optimization and use the (main) AO’ed CSS
    3. I guess so, but as AO doesn’t optimize the external CSS, it will still be loaded and as such still be render blocking

    hopes this clarifies,

    Thaks for the fast reply @fruttta!
    1. OK, I will use only css optimization (removing js when possible)
    2. I’ve the CSS optimization enabled, but the test result says I have two autoptimize file “blocking Above-the-fold content:
    3. I will try to cancel the external links (if possible): do you think can be applicable to copy the content of the external file making them as internal link (changing the sourse files calling the external link in a way they call internal resouces)

    Last think (i hope… šŸ™‚ ): is it possible to change “autoptimize” word (even working on PHP files) in the css file name (i.e. making “sitename” instead of “autoptimize”)?

    (2) use the biggest one, but I think you can optionally run the critical css tool 2 times and simply combine the two results

    (changing AO filename) that is possible, cfr. FAQ šŸ™‚
