 * Hi
 * 1. What is WordPress Heartbeat Optimization and how SiteGround helps with this?
 * 2. What is DNS pre-fetching for external domains?
 * In what cases should I enable above both options?

 * Hey [@gatani](https://wordpress.org/support/users/gatani/)
 * You can read more about the new optimizations here:

 * [@sstoqnov](https://wordpress.org/support/users/sstoqnov/) Just one question
   about DNS prefetching. I understand the concept of it, it’s just when I enable
   the toggle, I’m not exactly sure what this line means:
 * > Add only your domain names without http:// or https:// – DNS prefetching will
   > work for both
 * Who’s domains exactly? Do we have to manually add all the external domains we
   want to be pre-fetched? Or the ones we _don’t_ want pre-fetched?

 * Hi [@sstoqnov](https://wordpress.org/support/users/sstoqnov/)
 * By default, WordPress Heartbeat API checks every **15 seconds** on post edit
   pages but SiteGround is recommending to keep it on **180 seconds**.
 * Is **180 seconds** the right recommendation?

 * Hey
 * >Do we have to manually add all the external domains we want to be pre-fetched

   Correct
 * >By default, WordPress Heartbeat API checks every 15 seconds on post edit pages,
   but SiteGround is recommending to keep it on 180 seconds.
    >Is 180 seconds the
   right recommendation?
 * The more often heartbeat “ticks,” the more executions it will generate, so yes,
   anything above 15 seconds is better. It’s up to you to decide how often do you
   want the heartbeat to “tick” 180 seconds is perfectly ok.
 * Regards,
    Stanimir
