Support » Plugin: Gutenberg » Ability to layout blocks in columns missing

  • The first thing the average user is going to ask is how to place blocks next to each other in a responsive fashion. To me, this is HUGE missing functionality. Without, we still just have a single column of content that, at this point, is more confusing than the current editor. Laying out blocks in a grid like fashion is CRITICAL for this to be a success, otherwise, what does this really improve on? Users will just continue to use existing page builders if Gutenberg can’t do this.

You are right that layout isn’t in Gutenberg. The idea of Gutenberg is to focus on the editor part. After it’s release, the next phase of Customization is where layout and other ‘building’ options will appear. It’s a large task and better to do on a solid foundation that Gutenberg is laying down.

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback. Every single piece the project gets and every review, really matters. It all goes to shape what the end will be for Gutenberg.

I agree with @jlivings. Seems that virtually all of my websites have needed multi-columns at some point. I have tried some other plugins that are supposed to support multi-column pages, but they are quite clunky to use. Really looking forward to see this in Gutenberg.
