Abandoned by Developer (5 posts)

This plugin has been abandoned by the developer because of insufficient donations.

  2. Is that really a good reason to rate it poorly? Plugins can be very difficult to adequately maintain over time, especially if they are done on the side.

I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at Pippin. The plugin developer stepped in and said he didn't make enough money to make it worth his while to keep working on it, so he has abandoned it.

How then would you ensure people searching for something that does what the plugin was purported to do, don't end up installing it and ending up with a problem?

The right thing would have been for the developer to take the plugin down, or tell WP to release it from the repository as the thousands of others have done over the years.

He didn't, so I felt compelled to at least post a warning. No?

  4. I simply meant that the plugin being unmaintained is not a valid reason to rate it poorly. If a plugin is well written, it could go years without needing a single update.

If it is broken and abandoned, then sure, but make sure it's broken first.

That's all I meant. Since I you didn't say whether it was broken or not in your review, I felt the need to post.

    I get it. I think. :)
