Support » Plugin: Atomic Blocks - Gutenberg Blocks Collection » AB Advanced Columns – Does not convert to regular block

  • I’ve searched the questions and haven’t found this asked or any answers. I’m using AB Advanced Columns and want to use it as a reusable block. When I try to convert the reusable block to a regular block, nothing happens.

    Hi Madison,

Thanks for writing in. What are you trying to do when you say “convert to a regular block”? If you create a reusable block, and then insert the reusable block into the page, you can edit it as needed without modifying the reusable block itself. In a sense, it inserts as a regular block.

To edit the actual reusable block, you can click the stoplight button in the top right corner and go to “Manage all reusable blocks” to edit.

Let me know if I’m missing something, happy to look into it further!

That is not how reusbale blocks work… they’re made to be universal on the site, unless you convert them to a regular block? At any rate, recorded a video for you to see how this isn’t the case here: https://www.loom.com/share/79e3eabf7d05469ebe14a75b659eea1

The whole reason I went this route is to be able to add a CSS class to the entire section (the heading and text beneath).

Hi there, apologies, I misunderstood your question. That loom link doesn’t seem to be working over here so I can’t see the video. However, I was able to test saving an advanced column as a reusable block, and then able to convert it on another page without any issues.

    Here’s the link again: https://www.loom.com/share/79e3eabf7d05469ebe14a75b659eea1c

Still no luck getting this to work….

@madisonlynn35 thanks for sharing the video. I can’t reproduce the behavior you’re seeing. Do you have any other plugins activated on the site? Can you test by temporarily deactivating all plugins except Atomic Blocks and switching to the default Twenty Twenty theme?
