Support » Plugin: A-Z Listing » A-Z Is Displayed — But Without Links

Hi. I’ve used A-Z Listing shortcode for years on this page: https://quotes.wiki/tags/. It works flawlessly.

    This is the shortcode: [a-z-listing display="terms" taxonomy="tags" numbers="after"]

I’m trying to use the same shortcode on this page https://www.dev.quotes.wiki/tags/ and it only displays the alpha characters — with no links to the tags.

How do I troubleshoot this? Is there a way to send you a screenshot of my editor screen so you can see it for yourself?

    Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

Are you sure your taxonomy has the slug of tags? The default WordPress-provided tags taxonomy has a slug of post_tag.

You are correct: It is “post_tag.” (Have no idea yet why it’s working with “tags” on this site.)

As for the dev site tags page, I’ve added this shortcode to try to display letters only:

    [a-z-listing display="terms" taxonomy="post_tag" numbers="after" return="letters"]

The letter links are live now (thanks) but they don’t load anything.

What is the format to display letters only — then load/display tags for that letter only when clicked?

Thanks, Daniel. Great + timely support.

    Hi,

You appear to have some custom code for your non-dev site, because the plugin doesn’t do single letter pages out of the box. There is a “tabbed” display that loads all the posts into the page and then switches between each letter using javascript. This can be enabled with a line of code in your theme’s functions.php file, but your non-dev site isn’t doing this.

To replicate what your non-dev site is doing, you’ll need to find out what customisations were applied and copy those to your dev site.

Ok, cool. Will do that. Thanks again for your timely replies, Daniel. Happy holidays. 🙂
