    Uh … Why? You don’t need the WP-footer on the ‘public’ pages. Am I missing something?



    WordPress isn’t under GPL?
    If WordPress is under GPl, the site must be under GPL, too.
    But the site is under Creative Commons.

    Yeah, I’m 99.999999% sure (not being a lawyer). The site ‘layout’ (aka the theme) is not the same as the ‘code’. The GPL applies to the back-end code of WP, not the themes. It’s NICE to link back to WP, but it’s not legally mandated (or a bunch of blogs would be in trouble!). Now, themes have to be GPL compatible, but that’s a little different.
