    Events Manager Version: 5.9.5
    WordPress Version 5.0.3

A user on my website is repeatedly getting the error message “A variable mismatch has been detected.” when trying to add an event.

They previously added events without a problem and I am not able to recreate the problem.

I have also looked in out server’s error logs and found nothing.

Is there anything that could be causing this problem?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I heard back from customer today. She could post an event without an image. Fine. With image, failed. She could not edit her event to add an image either. I saw that another customer had today however added an event with an image, without problem…?! both users have the same User Capabilities:

On my website the error occurs when somebody did not fill out a mandatory field. Instead of the normal error message a new windows opens with the text “A variable mismatch has been detected”, like the screenshot Kristian Yngve posted.

Sounds like an error caused by something on the client side then. If it was the sever, you would expect everyone to encounter the same errors….

Could be a browser-thing or (more likely) if they have ad-blocker(s) activated.
Uploading a file may be seen as a security issue by some ad-blockers, for example.

Have you asked that their OS, browser and if they have an ad-blocker? That could help eliminate the error.

    EDIT:
I almost forgot! (Since I’m on a Mac, I don’t have this running, LOL).
It could also be their local firewall application. Windows needs that much more than Macs, so it wasn’t at the top of my head. 🙂

The error occurs with every browser. We’ve tested that. To keep our offer running we currently use a previous version until the bug is fixed. Until then we cannot update wordpress oder the plugin.

@sugar7 The 2.6.4 – what is for their pro version:

@sabo1 may you please show me a link to download their previous version please?

@kristianngve unfortunately I don’t have a link. I reactivated a former version from my backup that doesn’t show the bug.

But you could try the Plugin “Rollback” to install a former version.

I’m user and fairly newbie at that. But I successfully use this plugin: WP Roleback https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rollback/.

Thanks guys for getting back to me with that, I successfully rolled back…

But after I rolled back to Version 5.9.4, I still getting this issue. 🙁

White screen showing “A variable mismatch has been detected.”

Tab says “You are not allowed to view this item”

I have repeated the event upload to find it only happens when uploading an image for the event.

@kristianngve: Try downgrade wordpress to 5.0, too.

I’m just a newbie user. I’ve had all EM and WP upgrades and all is well.

Have you followed Partick’s suggestions? Have you placed a help request with your Host? If they can’t help, at least they can rule things out.

Just noticed the number. Do you have a page, who’s ID number is 8221 …that might be a problem?

Guys, after a good hour or two messing around, I have found out what it is:

It’s all about your Image Size Settings.

Pay close attention to the Maximum Image Sizes (Maximum width & height) in px & Maximum size in bytes.

The moment I started increasing it – all my “A variable mismatch has been detected.” issues had gone away.

    @tjalexander70 @sugar7 @sabo1

These rollbacks are probably before the restrictions on images upload or something. That’s probably why they were fixing it for you guys…

    Hello @tjalexander70 @sugar7 @sabo1

Can you perhaps check if it still happens after the suggestion from @kristianngve?

@sugar7 The 2.6.4 is current latest stable version in case you’re using EM PRO.

@kristianngve What settings on the Image sizes did you make to get the error? Perhaps it has something to do with your Servers Maximum (MB) limit for uploading of files? Usually this could could be increased on your Servers PHP side. (upload_max_filesize of PHP)

    sugar7

    (@sugar7)

My php upload_max_filesize is set at 32M and has been all the time..

Where are these Maximum Image Sizes settings you are referring to @kristianngve ?

    Kristian Yngve

    (@kristianngve)

EM plugin -> Settings -> General -> Image Sizes.

“These settings will only apply to the image uploading if using our front-end forms. In your WP admin area, images are handled by WordPress.”

To get the error: “A variable mismatch has been detected.” -> Set the size / weight limits below what you upload on the front end.
