  • Hi @mattair ,

I’m sorry to hear your website is not operating as you expect. Can you share more about what changed with your website when you activated Gutenberg? Also, are you using any other plugins that might conflict with Gutenberg?

    Hi @piyopiyofox ,

Thank you for replying. This has the merit to be very professional.

    To answer your questions:
    – Can you share more about what changed with your website when you activated Gutenberg?
When I activated Gutenberg it totally changed my root HTML coding and edited it to be blocks only. I understand that as it is the essence of Gutenberg. The problem is that Gutenberg is absolutely not intuitive. As you move things you begin to mess up your website core step by step until it is no more working. There’s no coming back except if you work on a child theme (highly recommended) or on a version that you can reboot which I did not do.
    – Also, are you using any other plugins that might conflict with Gutenberg?
Actually what made the biggest mess is the update of Woocommerce that I had on my previous website.

Bottom line, Gutenberg is not intuitive at all starting by rendering everything in blocks mixed up with “traditional” grids or lines. I won’t come back to this editor now that I totally need to rebuild my website.

    Regards,

    Mattair.

P.S. : I am not a professional web developer which maybe can explain that I don’t get all the details of Gutenberg but I guess that if you are a professional you should be able to use this plugin easily.

Just to make sure I’m hearing you correctly, are you talking about working on a page/post in the Block Editor or coding blocks for your site when you say you’re moving things?

Oh no! I definitely recommend testing a plugin upgrade on a staging site or local test site first if possible. It’s not always, but sometimes these kinds of things can happen. 🙁

Has the issue been fixed through another update? They also have an issue repo here https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues if you feel you’ve encountered a bug.

The goal is definitely to enable anyone and everyone to use Gutenberg easily, so thank you for your feedback on your experience so far.
