Support » Fixing WordPress » A question about taxonomies…

  • Hiya – sorry if this is in the wrong area of the forum, but I have a question about taxonomies and whether they’d be a solution to the formatting problem I’m anticipating my client having…

    I’m building a website for a client. They sell new boats across 4 different manufacturers.

    I’ve set up my code as per below, but as I’m a developer, i obviously know how to amend the code via the HTML view. Every time the visual editor is selected, wordpress loses all formatting and messes up the appearance of my boxes.

    Also, in hindsight, if my client wanted to add a new model to the page, then i don’t think they’d be able to copy / paste an example from above.

    So I’m wondering – would creating a custom taxonomy be the solution? That way, I could get them to enter the data via set fields, and then output it in a consistent way similar to that shown below…

    <li id="zaffiro32">
    <h3><a href='wp-content/uploads/2012/08/32-Zaffiro.pdf' target="_blank">32 Zaffiro<br />
    <span>A highly innovative boat with abundance of space emphasised by great attention to detail. The 32 Zaffiro undeniably has distinctive character and style.</span><br />
    <span class="linkButton">Download PDF Specification ›</span></a></span></h3>
    </li>

    If i’m completely barking up the wrong tree, could anyone suggest another method?

    Thanks
