Support » Plugin: Intercom » This paid plugin should not be in this repository

  • I have installed the app, gone through the supposed “onboarding” and I came to the last page at the bottom is says …

“You won’t see the Intercom Messenger until you start a free trial”

and you need to provide your ‘credit card’ to access the 14 day free trial … it also says free forever, this is sending very mixed messages. This is not

I find this level of untruth unpalatable, marketing 2000 style in the hope you will forget to unsubscribe and they will get a payment from you.

This product should not be on the WordPress repository.

    Hi Frank,

Sorry that you were disappointed and thanks for your feedback.

Our platform, which allows you to track your customer data, is free forever. However, the Intercom Messenger for your website is currently part of our Acquire product (which sits on top of our platform) and requires a subscription – I can see how this might have caused confusion, but it is not our intention to mislead. The description and installation instructions do refer to needing an Acquire subscription in order to use the plugin, though we’ll be sure to work on making this clearer.

    Thanks again for your feedback,

    Jasmine from the Intercom team

I’ve removed the modlook tag from this review. This is feedback and I don’t see anything that needs intervening about.

So to use this you have to pay? No free version?

    Hi @mibtp,

Yes, in order to use the Intercom Messenger on your site, you’ll need to have an Acquire subscription.

We don’t currently have a free version of our messenger, but the Intercom platform – which allows you to track your users – is free forever:

    I hope that helps!
