A move from blogger to wordpress

  • Freedom’s Lighthouse has been on blogger for about 2 years and I have just finished a new site for it using wordpress.

I’ve created a custom template for it and I’m currently using the following plugins:

    • Akismet
    • Clean Archives Reloaded
    • Google XML Sitemaps
    • Social Bookmarks
    • WP-Sticky
    • WP Super Cache

Any feedback positive or negative will be greatly appreciated.

Oh and if anyone cares to look the old site using blogger can be found at http://freedomslighthouse.com

  • I have moved several sites from Blogger FTP. A headache, but worth it.

    Plugins I like are:

“Similar posts” putting the code in the single.php beneath the content works well.
“secure wordpress” and “wordpress firewall” – for security.
azindex – create an index page automatically
All in One SEO Pack – easily create specific descriptions for each page, plus a few other things.
SidebarTabs – allows you to put various menus into one tabbed widget, e.g. latest posts, similar posts, latest comments, popular posts (oh another handy plugin).

It’s a shame you have to rebuild your PR from scratch on the new site (old one has PR5!). I’m sure it’s just a matter of time though.
