First which I see is this in HTML source:
<!--Font Awesome icons-->
<link rel="preload" href=“ https://wagsandmore.nl/wp-content/themes/shapely/assets/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff2?v=4.5.0" as="style">
<link rel="preload" href=“late-discovered-styles.css" as="style">
It’s pretty bad coded HTML (double quote are wrong). Also, second preload doesn’t make sense because it’s just name. I didn’t check more details, but HTML validator shows ton of errors related to this code.
But could that make google to take it out of the results? Even when some pages were on the first spot in de search results for months
No, perfect HTML code isn’t really important, but pretty bad code can decrease ranking. It isn’t primary root of cause (It seems “preload” was added earlier).
I don’t see issue in sitemaps. Posts seem fine. From other side, HTML validation, PageSpeed Insights, other tests don’t pass well. Note that google will start to ranking website by “loading time” (Core Web Vitals report). You should check this section in GSC and other errors/warnings there. It’s possible that your website are affected by last algorithm changes.
Anyway, it’s out of this topic because I don’t see issues with Yoast SEO plugin.
Its weird because some pages are still shown in the search results on Google. Also the homepage is show by Google.
@leandervdb
We understand pages are appearing in Google. We can confirm the homepage: https://wagsandmore.nl/ is appearing in Google here, the sitemaps are working as expected here: https://wagsandmore.nl/sitemap_index.xml and Yoast is outputting the right data. See image: https://pasteboard.co/JaGvoA7.png
In this manner, Yoast SEO is working correctly.
To improve the ranking, we suggest optimizing the site and your posts/pages using the plugin for both Content SEO: https://yoast.com/cat/content-seo/ and Technical SEO: https://yoast.com/cat/seo/ purposes. Be sure to resolve any warnings the SEO and Readability analysis is showing. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/use-content-analysis-yoast-seo/.
You may also wish to verify your site speed is high enough using the tools here https://yoast.com/site-speed-tools-suggestions/ as loading time is a ranking factor. In addition, we have some guides on how to get some quick wins in terms of SEO that might be helpful here https://yoast.com/3-seo-quick-wins/ and https://yoast.com/how-to-rank-high-in-google/.
We also have YouTube Tutorial videos which may be helpful in understanding the features of the plugin: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4CtPfBUilirZovJVGPHoMH-JOMWSpWoa.
Note: if you see errors for your sitemaps, please describe them or take screenshots. You can use a tool like: https://pasteboard.co/ to share the image.
If the sitemaps are all working correctly, then you will need to improve the SEO of the page using the above information.
In addition, you may have also been hit by Google’s May 2020 Core update. This guide explains more: https://searchengineland.com/googles-may-2020-core-update-was-big-and-broad-search-data-tools-show-334393
