Thanks Patrick for modlooking the spam threads. I’ve been around with a mop & bucket and I think it has all been cleaned up now.
Just marking the topics with modlook tag will do – once we see it its usually obvious why it has been modlooked, so its best not to to reply to the spam – that gives us more to clean up.
Sure! I was really surprised to sees so many last night. I actually just added ~10 or so more…

I don’t mean to bump this thread but there have been many more spam posts in the last 20 or so minutes. Something is going on and some IP’s should get blocked imo.
They are not all coming from the same IP or even the same subnet – My guess is that its a distributed attack possibly via a botnet, so blocking IPs probably won’t help – as soon as an IP is blocked they’d have moved onto the next one.
Ah I see. I guess it’s part of being a huge forum!
Patrick, you don’t need to modlook THIS post. We know there’s a lot of spam (I cleared out over 700 spam messages this morning). We know, we’re on it, and there’s not a whole lot to be done save clean it up 🙂
