• Heya,
So I am new to WordPress and I’m running MU here: http://www.wsccwebsite.org

Basically students go to register and I create an account for them that doubles as a very basic website. So I have a few questions about features that I’d like to hide or manipulate…

    1. When I create a new user it shows two URLs as their blog in the Site Admin -> Users section. And for whatever reason it’s defaulting to the main website instead of their domain. So when the user clicks on “View Site” when they are logged in it takes them there instead of to their site. How do I fix this?

    2. When the user is logged in there are a number of additional modules that appear that are really not necessary. Like the “WordPress Development Blog” and the “Other WordPress News”, I’d like to disable these can someone tell me how?

    3. And lastly, when an account is created it automatically sends out a greeting email to the registered address, but it sends one with a username and password first, then it sends a second with the username and password (but the password says “N/A”) with actual greeting text. I just want the latter of the two to be sent out, can someone tell me how to accomplish this?

    Thanks!

Also, when I go to wsccwebsites.org/wp-login as a user with a Contributor role I get the limited interface, but if I select the Settings -> Admin option it navigates me to wsccwebsites.org/myusername/wp-login and it appears as though the user has an administrator role now. Is this a bug with the new release – if not how do I maintain the user role?

And one more thing, haha, on this template: http://wsccwebsites.org/spencerhill/ there are a number of widgets – I guess they’d be called – on the right that I’d prefer to hide. Like “Categories”, “Archive”, “Blogroll” etc… is there a way to do this without modifying the template itself?
