Trying to compete with Bethesda for most worthless release of 2018, here comes WordPress Gutenberg Editor. Shaming the name of the Guut (all hail Police Academy and hero of Coccoon), this editor is the worst.

It has everything you despise. A bloated interface for doing a simple task such as writing a paragraph. No visible boundaries so you have to mouse over to see what goes where. Extra tabs for editing the unneeded blocks. Its like the design team visited every text editor I have ever used and pulled out the worst of each! All its missing in a animated paper clip to come out and yell at me!

Thank Crom you can still download and use the classic editor.

Thanks for taking time to leave a review. Whilst I understand you aren’t happy using the new editor, I would love to investigate more into what for you would make Gutenberg worth using. What do you feel is the best writing experience out there? It would be great to get some more insights.

I do not like the new blocks at all. It makes writing, editing, and embedding such a pain. A normal post, which should only take 5 minutes to write, took me 15 minutes plus, and not just because I was unfamiliar with the new layout, but because everything i did had to be accessed through a drop down menu. Things popped up in the wrong order of blocks. Having to click between document and block menus on the right side is awful.

Mailchimp works with blocks, and though it is annoying there too, they did it much better.

I prefer a big open space to type, with small buttons along the top that allow me quick access to what I want to add to the content space. Customizable bars are great as well.

The old classic editor was easy, had no menus or bloat, and was a great example of what a content editor should be.
