A common table for a custom post type in subsites

  • HI there
I am running a multisite network for the Archdiocese of Verapoly where I serve… I have the parent site as the Archdiocese and all the churches as the subsites… Is it possible to have a custom post type (Eg: Individual-information) for each subsite that will be stored only in a common table in wordpress…. Thankyou

  • I’m not sure what you’re asking…

Do you mean you want a CustomPostType that is only for one site, or one that’s there for all? Yes to both, but the how changes 🙂

    Thankyou Mika
Let me make it a little more clear….
I want to create a custom post type that uses advanced custom field(plugin).
For each subsite, usually the content in the fields are stored to the respective tables…
    Example:
Consider 2 subsites: Church A and Church B
    1. I use custom post type Individual(of Church A) and add the information of David…it is stored in a table of the subsite Church A.
    2. I use custom post type Individual(of Church B) and add the information of Christy…it is stored in a table of the subsite Church B.

My question is .. is it possible to store both David and Christy in the same table (ie a table of the parent-site)
    Thankyou Mika

Ah. You’re misunderstanding how CPTs work.

No, they would be in separate tables, because posts are separated per site, and a custom post type is just another post 🙂

David would be in wp_A_posts and Christy wold be in wp_B_posts on your DB.

    Thankyou Mika….
I guess I have to stick with the same concept…
    Thanku very much
