• Have been using for years. I go to edit my existing bar graph and get greeted with a Buy a licence prompt 🤦‍♂️ Had to rollback to 3.10.15 to get the functionality back…

    Hi @rothschild86,

    Thank you for using Visualizer.

    Bar chart is not a paid feature, it is still free like it was. Maybe you have a column chart created (which is a paid feature) and confusing it with a bar chart? What was introduced with the recent versions of Visualizer is that if there is a PRO chart created (like column chart) we’re checking for the license and that’s why there is a popup about adding the license key appearing.

    Let us know if you’re getting this with a bar and not a column chart (if you can share a screenshot that would be very helpful). Thanks!

    Whatever the restructuring you did, all I know is that you are now holding my graphs hostage. I have dozens of them, and I edit the datapoints regularly… There needs to be a migration path to a free layout, if you have suddenly decided to make this one a paid one 🤷‍♂️ Screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/w1fqfwj6z4q5wnraa2zua/Screenshot-2024-07-10-170939.jpg?rlkey=5gqgge88wkxlmamj87atra22q&dl=0

    @rothschild86,

    We did not convert any chart that was free to a paid one. We only made restriction that charts from PRO addon cannot be used with a free version of a plugin. If you have a column chart created from the past it means you used PRO version of the plugin in some way and that is the reason you’re currently seeing the popup.

    That is most definitely NOT the case. I have multiple Area Charts, Column Charts, and even a Geo Chart that were all created in the free version. I’ve been updating these for years with no issue, the last time in March 2024. Went to update them today, and every one of them is now forcing a licence purchase. I have never had the PRO version, as I don’t use graphs enough to justify it. I’ve also had to rollback the plugin to restore the same functionality as it always had in the past.

    The way the changelog has glossed over these changes, and the way the plugin is now described, is extremely disingenuous. The change is a literal hijacking and ransom of site content. At its core, it’s a fine plugin, but trust is now broken if this is the developer behaviour on offer.

    Hey @hetzer38t,

    Thanks for reaching out! I apologize for any confusion regarding the charts.

    The charts you referred to are part of our premium charts library, as outlined in our documentation here – https://docs.themeisle.com/article/1708-pro-charts-library. This documentation was last updated in 2023, so there hasn’t been a recent change.

    I hope this clarifies things. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please let me know. We appreciate your understanding!

    Best regards,

    Andreea

    No. Just no. I’ve had this installed since 2014 and never had issues with updating the charts I have using a CSV. Version 3.10.15 worked without issue, the same as it always has. The latest version does not. For all but a couple of chart types, it gives a message to upgrade to pro. I literally had to revert back to that version to have any means to edit charts that are a decade old.

    I stand by what I said. This was a change done without any clear notice, is recent, and prevents users from doing the same editing tasks they’ve done for years. If that’s the new terms moving forward, then okay, you’re a business, but to retroactively hobble the plugin is appalling behaviour, and calls into question just what else you have planned for other products.

    @hetzer38t,

    We can understand the confusion you have but the thing is that those charts are part of the PRO version for years, the change that we made is that we started checking if a PRO chart is used without a license and give a notification about upgrading if that’s the case. We haven’t switched them from free to PRO, that’s why there isn’t any notification in the changelog about it. All the past years you were using these PRO charts while they were not supported in the Free version, it’s not possible that you could have created that type of chart in the past few years which is now uneditable.
